Nigerian Suya: A Classic Beef Suya Recipe

This classic suya recipe is a nostalgic journey, reminiscent of home, enhanced by the distinctive flavor of KomBei suya pepper. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb. of rib eye steak
  • 2 cups of suya pepper
  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 maggi
  • ⅓ cup of onion (optional)
  • ⅓ cup of chopped tomatoes (optional)
  • 16 wooden skewers

METHOD

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Wash meat and cut into 1-inch slices.
  3. Thread meat onto skewers, basting each skewer with oil.
  4. Coat each skewer with a generous amount of KomBei Suya Pepper.
  5. Marinate for 30 minutes or longer, if time allows. 
  6. Place skewers on a grill rack or broiler pan.
  7. Grill the skewers in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, turning each skewer once every 15 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with chopped tomatoes, onions and cabbage on the side.
